Nick Clegg has been elected the new leader of the Liberal Democrats.
In his acceptance speech he thanked Chris Huhne for the energy with
which he fought the campaign, he paid tribute to Vince Cable and
Menzies Campbell for their leadership skills, and he thanked all those
who supported him over the last few weeks.
Nick launched his campaign in Sheffield, and has often used the experience he has gained as the Member of Parliament for Sheffield Hallam to guide him in his campaign. He has been pleased with the support he has had from people in Sheffield, both within the party and elsewhere.

The headline figure masks extremely wide variations between forces, with Northamptonshire retaining just 845 DNA profiles of under-16s, whilst West Midlands Police have over 10,000 and the Metropolitan Police have over 16,000.
The number of samples taken may be even higher, as figures show the
current age of the individual sampled, rather than their age at the time.
